After two weeks of radiothon madness (don't forget to pay up, pledgers) the Einstein A Go Go team can get back to the real business of the week: SCIENCE! On this week's episode, Dr Shane is joined by Dr Krystal, Dr Alicia and Danger Mouse. As well as covering all the week’s biggest science announcements, Danger Mouse discusses personalised genetic medicine and the potential for re-evaluating shelved drugs for new purposes. Dr Jennifer Henry calls in from the New York Academy of Science to talk about major brain injuries and the elasticity of our most astounding organ and Dr Shane rounds out the show with a tribute to the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong. |

In another strangely entertaining Farellogue, Stew explains how to break a hotel toilet in New York City and get an upgrade out of it, and scores top-notch seats at Yankee Stadium via purely shonky methods, albeit kind of by accident. Additionally, Larry reveals why a house is more useful than children, the intrigue of the concept of a Mike Tyson speaking tour of the Antipodes, or anywhere, is explored, and Stew says he’s sick of men sitting down on public transport thus proving the effect of alcohol on the human brain as he did the exact same rant a few weeks earlier. Gibberish in a weathered vein.
CLASSIFICATION WARNING – Not to be listened to by decent wholesome folks, thus any friends of Stew and Leapster are welcome, but your church-going types might want to give it the proverbial wide berth. Includes foul language, fouler jokes, and horsing around like that there. |

On a fantastic Melbourne Spring afternoon we spoke to Claude Baxter, who is part of the team presenting Melbourne Market Week (it's actually 10 days, but let's not allow that to ruin an otherwise catchy title). With 85% of Australian food dollars spent at Supermarkets, this event is a great opportunity to celebrate the alternatives, with all the associated benefits you get when shopping at a market. We also talked about their upcoming Food Issues Forum at the State Library: Can we afford not to eat local? Next we spoke to John at the Vic Market. Finally we were joined in the studio by Epicure's Larissa Dubecki. She's had a busy few months; on top of having a baby, last week was the launch of the 33rd edition of The Age Good Food Guide. Over the years this has become the definitive guide for the Melbourne food scene, as we spoke about current food trends (Mexican, anyone?), our current over supply of restaurants, menu prices, as well as the industry awards handed to Vernon Chalker and Alla Wolf-Tasker. |

join us for a chat with Mark S Hall - Director of Sushi - the Global Catch, a film being featured in the upcoming Environmental Film Festival Melbourne. At about 9.30, LIVE in the studio will be David Bridie and Helen Mountford (of My Friend the Chocolate Cake fame) having a natter and playing some music... Listen up for the fish names we didn't get to last week, hear about the Orange Bellied Parrot - don't miss a great Marinara! |
