What a drop dead fantastico day in Melbournetown, and even more so as Frank Camorra visited us in the studio. As well as running the Movida businesses, he's recently released a book with good buddy Richard Cornish called Movida's Guide to Barcelona. In the same vain as Shannon Bennett's very excellent books on Paris and New York, the book is a food focussed guide to Barcelona eating, drinking, and uhhh, staying (in hotels, of course). We also talk about the evolution of Barcelona's food culture, what "tapas" actually is, and some of the high quality Spanish food imported here in cans... proof that food in cans can be gourmet.

We also checked in with John at Tomato City in the Vic Market.

Finally we drove down to Mt Eliza and caught up with Guy Mirabella from Shop Ate Cafe and Store. He's also recently released a book, simply called Hungry. We talk about Guy's non-pretentious approach to food, and his dislike of fussy cheffy stuff such as "symetry on the plate". It's food. Just serve it.

This week on the Breakfasters…

Book reviewer Jenny Niven spoke about Malcolm Knox's surfing novel The Life; director Fred Schepisi came into the studio and discussed his most recent film, The Eye of the Storm; American writer Steve Hely dropped in to talk about his novel, How I Became A Famous Novelist, and local historian Tony Birch featured in this weeks "Touch My History" segment  he spoke about Camp Pell, a former settlement located within Melbourne's Royal Park.

So join Fee, Ben and Jess in this podcast of the Best of the Breakfasters!

This show inadvertently becomes an all-singing, no-dancing, no-tune-recognisable spudtacular, as Stew summarises civilisation as we loathe it with an attempt on the life of a Billy Joel song, and Larry provides what he feels a more appropriate lyric to fit the music of the Gold Coast Suns theme song. This represents a new landmark, and landfill, in radio history, as someone finally sings worse on a show than Larry. Also, Stew and Leapster revive their PoopVision (LLC, Bogota) hypothetical TV channel, and it is explained how painter Jackson Pollock’s lunch-bag was mistaken for his final masterpiece. A paragon of poppycock throughout.

CLASSIFICATION WARNING – Immoderate language, uncontrollable rudeness, and toilet and groin references all proliferate. Thus a blanket Jane Austen Warning prevails – i.e. this probably should not be listened to by anyone with either sense or sensibility.
