We have a great selection of highlights coming up over the next half hour. We'll hear an interview with Swedish author John Lindqvist out here for the Melbourne Writers Festival. We'll also hear from Breakfasters regular and computer buff Clem Bastow on blogging, as well as a very funny call-in about songs heard in the weirdest of places. To start off with though, George Megalogenis joins us to talk politics- pole dancing, industrial relations, and the upcoming election. |

We're back after a two week podcasting break during the annual Triple R Radiothon. This week we spoke with Alex, a PhD student from the University of Melbourne. Malaria kills two million mothers and their children every year. Alex studies how the malaria parasite infects pregnant women and how to prevent it. We also heard about the amazing array of collections and specimens collected by the CSIRO. Other stories were Google Sky, virtual plagues in World of Warcraft and dancing robots. This week's podcast ends with a very special visit by a long time friend of the Breakfasters- seven year old Atticus who despite the fact that he is seriously ill, found the energy to come in to the RRR studios and see how the show happens. Atticus' Dad has given us permission to end with a song he wrote for his son. |
